It's very hard to believe that a week from tomorrow we will be flying to South Africa. I've promised lots of people that I would have a blog so they can follow us on our adventure. As usual I've left it till almost the last minute. The first post of this blog went out by mistake. I hadn't really finished it.
I'm new at blogging and not sure what will end up in here. I plan to figure out how to post pictures - I'm sure there is a way. The next entry may not be for a while. We leave New Hampshire on Friday (5 days!!) and drive to Philadelphia stopping to visit and say good-bye to some family and friends along the way. We check into the hotel in Philly on Sunday night for "staging." We will get to meet the other 41 people in our group, get any shots we need and have a couple of orientation workshops. We check out of the hotel at 2AM(!) and take a bus to NYC. Our flight leaves for South Africa about 10:30 AM and after 15 hours of flying we will be in Johannesburg at 8:30 on Wednesday AM, South African time. Our first two weeks are at Mokopane College of Education near Polokwane in Limpopo Province about 3 hours drive north of Johannesburg. Then we spend about 6 weeks with a host family. During this time we have been told we will have very limited phone and internet access. After that it will depend where our assignment is.
Even though we've been preparing for weeks, it seems there is a LOT to do in this last week. I am busy but excited!!.
